quick baby update as I am 18 weeks today or 4 1/2 months (everything is calculated in weeks when you are pregnant)! I’m almost 1/2 way there and a lot has happened in the past month or so. We found out our baby’s gender. We are having a baby boy! We are still figuring out what to name him and it’s been really hard to pick a name that Eddie and I both agree on! In the meantime, I found a name that I like for baby’s future puppy. ha! He will look something like this

Eddie and I planned a little gender reveal surprise party and it was a lot of fun! We wanted to do something really special to announce our baby’s gender to our family so I asked a friend to help me with a little project for the gender reveal. She helped me paint a cardboard box with blue and pink stars on the outside and Eddie and I stuffed it with blue balloons inside (you can find biodegradable balloons here). It turned out to be such a cool project. It was even more exciting for our family to find out the gender as we made them wait a couple of days after we found out (we couldn’t torture ourselves any longer) and they were so eager to know what was going to pop out of the box! LOL! I topped off the surprise with some yummy cake pops and cupcakes with a blue center!
I celebrated my first mother’s day! I seriously have the most thoughtful husband, family and friends who made me feel really special as a new mommy-to-be. I was showered with lots of beautiful flowers and a couple of gifts! I even whipped up a really yummy breakfast for everyone!
My belly has really expanded and I’m getting quite large! Although, I don’t feel baby moving around in my belly yet, but I think we are getting close. I’ve gained about 8 pounds so far and I think I’m even starting to waddle a bit. It’s not easy to tie my shoes, shave my legs or roll out of bed anymore, but my sis got me a really cool Snoogle pillow to replace 3 so I’m sleeping a lot better at night (take my Snoogle away and I may hurt you ).
I’m pretty much done with all of the extreme food aversions I had in the first trimester and the food cravings have begun! Baby and I love spicy foods (especially boneless buffalo wings), fresh fruit (especially mangoes and watermelon) and fresh veggies like cucumbers con chile, guacamole and salsa, Chipotle and of course, pickles. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it The funny thing is everything is so yummy right now. I could even have a piece of string cheese and it’s the most amazing piece of string cheese I’ve ever had in my life! LOL! I’m trying to be very careful though with all of the things I’m not supposed to eat right now and I’m really missing sushi ;( Surprisingly, I don’t miss sweets!
Lastly, a little note for our peanut: We were so excited to find out that you are a boy! Grandma has started digging up your dad’s baby pics and baby outfits (which are over 30 years old!) and I can already see what you will look like in my mind. We have picked out the paint color for your room and we can finally start shopping for some really cool things for you. We can’t wait for you to be here. You are going to have a ton of play dates since all of my friends and cousins are having baby boys too!
